A perfect movie shot, doing the impossible and Monika!

The sun was beaming on the busy street intersection common to San Francisco. In the corner of my eye I spied an older Mercedes parked parallel in line with vespas and mini coopers, the city’s typical transportation. A beautiful blonde with long curled hair and cat eye glasses walked out of Mercedes. With beautiful light illuminating her from the side it was equal to a perfect movie shot. That must be her, I thought to myself and quickened my pace up hill. It’s been just over a year since our first meeting, but it feels much more like ten, or at least five! Since that Monday afternoon of last March when Monika entered my life, she has never left and more so has become a dear friend to photograph with, to sing with, to pray with, to share life stories with, and to dream real big!

I often tell Monika that I really don’t know where I’d be without her. This girl pushes me to go farther than I would alone and I cannot be more thankful to have her in my life! Monika also makes me do hard things, good hard things ;). Sometime last year I drew a thank you card for Monika and she asked me to draw her, preferably in a French outfit and with a camera. I told her it’s not possible, because I can’t draw people, at least nothing that looks like them. But something in me wanted to try and after looking at photographs of Monika from every angle, the impossible happened! I made my friend ten cards and I’m not sure who loves the cards more, Monika or me! Thank you dear friend, for all that you are for me and for all that you do for me! Can’t wait to see what this year has for us! Lots of love, Yuliya
